THE FINANCIAL AID PROCESS Create Federal Student Aid Account @ STUDENTAID.GOV 1 WHAT IS A FEDERAL STUDENT AID ACCOUNT? Your Federal Student Aid Account, also known as an FSA ID, is your login for StudentAid.gov and serves as your electronic signature for the FAFSA and other federal student aid websites. HOW DO I CREATE MY ACCOUNT? 1. Go to StudentAid.gov. 2. Select “Create Account.” Follow the prompts to verify your identity. *Save your username and password in a secure location. WHY THIS MATTERS Your Federal Student Aid Account allows you to: Complete and sign the FAFSA. Access federal student aid information. Helpful Tips: The student and each contributor must have their own account. Use a personal email address, not a school email. Write down your username and password and keep them in a safe place. (See page 21.) You will use your account every year to complete or renew the FAFSA. Review your financial aid history. Renew your FAFSA each year.
